How to Get Good Gear Early in Survival (MiningMaven SMP)

The fastest ways to gear up early on a Minecraft survival server, and the exact kits, crates and enchant sources that get you to full netherite on MiningMaven SMP.

On most survival servers, early gear means a slow climb from stone to iron to diamond. On MiningMaven SMP you can skip most of that. This guide covers the general early-game basics first, then the exact free kits, crates and enchant sources that get you to enchanted netherite in your first days.

The basics on any survival server

• Get a shield, food and a bed before you go far. Most early deaths come from mobs at night and from falling.
• Branch mine at diamond level (around Y -58 in modern Minecraft) for diamonds, iron and redstone.
• Enchant early. A Protection and Unbreaking set beats bare diamond armor.
• Trade with other players for what you are missing instead of grinding everything yourself.

Step 1: Claim the free Starter kit

Type /kit on your first login. The Starter kit is free and can be claimed once a week. It gives you:

• Full leather armor and a full iron tool set: sword, pickaxe, axe, shovel and hoe.
• Food, 32 oak logs, 64 stone, coal and torches.
• 6 Vote Keys, a Mega Flight Voucher (1 hour of fly time) and a basic Sell Wand.

Step 2: Link Discord for free netherite

Type /discord link in game and follow the steps. Linking your Discord gives you the Sprout rank for free, and Sprout comes with a kit you can claim every day:

• A full netherite armor set with Protection I and Unbreaking I.
• A netherite sword with Sharpness II and Unbreaking I.
• Netherite pickaxe, axe, shovel and hoe with Efficiency II and Unbreaking I.

That is full netherite on day one, without mining a single piece of ancient debris.

Step 3: Better kits with each rank

Every rank has its own daily kit with stronger enchantments. Ranks are bought with Tokens in /rank, and Tokens are earned by playing.

• Forager (1,500 Tokens): Protection II armor, Sharpness III sword, Efficiency III tools, all Unbreaking II.
• Builder (2,500): Protection III, a Sharpness IV and Looting I sword, Efficiency IV tools, all Unbreaking III.
• Explorer (4,500): Protection III with Feather Falling III boots, a Sharpness V, Looting II and Fire Aspect II sword, Efficiency V tools.
• Champion (6,500): Protection III, a Sharpness V and Looting II sword, Efficiency V tools, plus 16 Bottles o' Enchanting.
• Legend (13,000): Protection IV armor, a Sharpness V and Looting II sword, Efficiency V tools, plus 32 Bottles o' Enchanting.

Step 4: Upgrade your enchantments

• The Enchanter at spawn (/enchanter) sells MiningMaven's custom enchantment books for XP levels.
• The Enchantments Crate gives two custom books per key. Keys cost 500 Tokens in /keys.
• Enchant Shards: right-click one for a random custom book of its tier. Common and Uncommon come from the Vote Crate, Rare from the Supreme Crate, and Epic and Legendary from milestone levels 3 to 9.
• Enchantment fragments from the Cosmetics Crate add a level of Protection, Fortune, Looting or Sharpness to your gear.
• The Black Market (/bm) sometimes stocks a Mending book, a Netherite Upgrade Template or an Enchanted Golden Apple.

Step 5: Crate gear sets

• Vote Crate: the Vote armor and tool set. You get Vote Keys every time you vote on the 12 vote sites.
• Supreme Crate: the Supreme armor and tool set, plus diamonds and a chance at a Netherite Ingot.
• KOTH Crate: the KOTH Sword, Helmet, Chestplate, Leggings and Boots, mostly for players who win Arena KOTH (KOTH keys sometimes show up in the Black Market too).

Step 6: Buy what you are missing

• Search /shops and the auction house (/ah) for gear and enchanted books other players are selling.
• Post a job with /order for exactly what you need, and players deliver it to you.
• Earn the money with daily quests (/quests), which pay $10,000 to $20,000 each.

A simple first-week routine

1. Claim the Starter kit and link Discord for the Sprout kit.
2. Vote on all 12 sites and open your Vote Keys.
3. Do your three daily quests every day.
4. Claim your rank kit daily and save Tokens toward Forager.
5. Spend XP at the Enchanter and fill the gaps from /shops and /ah.
