How to Use /ps Shops on MiningMaven SMP
Learn how to create, stock, price, and browse /ps chest shops on MiningMaven SMP and use them in the player economy.
Player chest shops are one of the easiest ways to buy and sell items on MiningMaven SMP. With /ps, you can turn a chest into a shop, set a price in $ or Tokens, stock it with items, and let other players browse and buy from you anytime.
What /ps shops are for
A /ps shop is a chest-based player shop with infinite virtual storage and floating item displays. It is built for simple, repeatable buying and selling inside MiningMaven’s player-driven economy. You do not need to stand online to run it, and buyers can find your shop through the /shops browser or your shop warp.
How to create a chest shop
- Place a single chest within 5 blocks of you, and make sure it is not inside someone else's claim.
- Look directly at the chest.
- Hold the item you want the shop to sell, then type /ps create.
- After /ps create opens the shop menu, click $ Bal or Tokens to pick the currency, click Sell Price, then type the price per item in chat (type 0 to turn that side off, or cancel).
How to set a good price
You can price a /ps shop in either $ or Tokens, and there is no tax on player shops. The minimum price is $0.01, Token prices must be whole numbers, and every $ sale counts toward your town's weekly Town Top race. If you are unsure, check similar listings in /shops before you commit.
- Use a lower price for common items that players buy often.
- Use a higher price for rare, time-consuming, or convenience items.
- Recheck your price after major events, restocks, or market shifts.
How to stock and manage your shop
A shop's item is fixed when it is created. To sell something else, use /ps remove while looking at the shop and create a new shop; your stock comes back to you. To stock the shop, right-click your own shop chest to open the shop menu, then use Deposit Items or Withdraw Items. Left-click deposits all matching items, right-click deposits one stack. The chest itself never opens and hoppers cannot feed it. Shop chests cannot be broken or blown up; remove one with /ps remove while looking at it, or use the Remove button in the menu and click twice.
How shops can buy from players
A shop can sell, buy, or both. In the shop menu, Buy Price is what you pay when players sell to you. Type 0 to turn buying off. Your buy price must be at or below your sell price, and buying only works while your balance can cover it.
How players browse /ps shops
Only shops that are selling and have stock appear in /shops, so an empty shop is invisible to buyers. Buyers can filter by category, search by item name or enchantment, and click a listing to teleport straight to that shop.
Set a shop warp for easier sales
Stand where you want visitors to arrive when you type /ps setwarp <name>, and hold an item to use it as the directory icon. You need at least one shop before you can set a warp. You get 1 warp by default, 4 with Sprout, up to 14 at Legend. /ps warps lists yours and /ps delwarp <name> removes one.
Shop limits and how many you can make
You get 3 shops by default, 25 with the free Sprout rank, rising with rank up to 150 at Legend. /ps list shows how many you have used.
How customers buy and sell at your shop
Right-click the shop chest to open it, then click Buy 1, 8, 16, 32 or 64. If the shop is buying, click Sell 1, 8, 16, 32, 64 or Sell ALL. The floating text above the chest shows the item, prices, stock and owner.
