How to Use the Auction House

Learn how to buy, sell, list, and undercut items in MiningMaven SMP’s auction house with simple in-game steps.

MiningMaven SMP’s auction house is the easiest way to turn extra loot into money and find items other players are selling. If you want to buy, list, or undercut items without wasting time, this guide walks you through the actual in-game flow.

What the auction house is for

The auction house is a player-to-player marketplace. You can list items for a set price, browse what other players are selling, and pick up deals without needing to meet up in person. It is especially useful for rare drops, spare gear, farm items, and anything you do not want to sell through a basic shop.

How to buy items

  1. Open the auction house with /ah.
  2. Browse the active listings in the menu; each one shows the price, seller, and "Expires in" timer.
  3. Use the nav row to filter by All, Bal, or Tokens, check Recent Sales, view My Listings, or open Expired.
  4. Left-click a listing to open the confirm screen, and check the shulker box preview to see the full contents before you pay.
  5. Confirm the purchase and the item goes straight into your inventory; if your inventory is full, the overflow drops at your feet.

You cannot buy your own listing, so the market stays player-driven. There is no collection area and nothing to claim after a purchase.

How to list an item for sale

  1. Hold the item you want to sell and type /ah sell bal <price> or /ah sell tt <price>.
  2. Or open /ah and click Sell Item.
  3. Choose whether you want to price it in Bal or Tokens.
  4. Type the price in chat; if you want to back out, type cancel.
  5. Confirm the listing and wait for it to sell.

Listings are priced in $ (Bal) or Tokens, and Tokens must be a whole number. The minimum price is 0.02, and the seller pays a 1% fee with a minimum of 0.01 taken from the sale. The buyer pays the listed price, and you are paid automatically the moment it sells.

Listing limits, expiry, and cancellations

Every listing lasts 24 hours. Unsold items are never deleted: they move to the Expired tab, where you can reclaim them or relist them. You can also cancel an active listing any time from My Listings, and the item comes straight back to you.

Every player can have 3 active listings at once, and higher ranks get more slots. If your market is full, cancel or reclaim something before posting a new item.

How undercutting works

Undercutting means listing your item slightly cheaper than the current lowest price so your listing appears first and is more likely to sell. The goal is not always to be the cheapest by a huge amount. Small price cuts are usually enough, and going too low can hurt the market for everyone, including you.

  • Check the current lowest listing before you post your own.
  • Undercut by a small amount instead of slashing the price.
  • If the market is crowded, consider waiting instead of racing to the bottom.
  • Use undercutting on items with steady demand, not on junk that barely sells anyway.

Where else to sell items

  • Player chest shops with /ps, or browse them with /shops.
  • /trade for direct player-to-player deals.
  • The /order jobs board for items players are actively looking for.
  • The Black Market (/bm) is for buying deals, not for selling.
