MiningMaven SMP /trade Guide

Learn how /trade works on MiningMaven SMP, what you can exchange, and how to avoid scams in safe one-to-one deals.

If you want to swap items or money directly with another player on MiningMaven SMP, /trade is the safest way to do it. You type /trade <player>, they get clickable [Accept] [Deny] buttons in chat, and the request expires after 60 seconds. Anyone can opt out of all trade requests with /trade toggle, and there is no distance limit, so you can trade from anywhere on the server.

What /trade is for

Use /trade when you and another player already agreed on a deal and want to complete it privately without listing the item publicly. It is best for quick swaps, private sales, and deals where both sides want to verify the trade before accepting.

What you can exchange

  • Items from your inventory, including gear, blocks, and other sellable items.
  • Each side gets 20 item slots in the trade window.
  • Money from your balance, Tokens, and XP levels, each with its own button in the trade window.
  • Click a currency button and then type the amount in chat within 30 seconds.
  • Items with a wrap applied and marketplace-locked wrap tokens cannot be offered.
  • You cannot offer more items than the other player has free inventory slots for.

How to trade safely

  1. Only start a trade after you have agreed on the exact item, amount, and price.
  2. Check the other player’s offer carefully before you accept.
  3. Any change to either side, including an item added or removed or an amount changed, resets BOTH accepts.
  4. When both players accept, the window locks and a 5-second countdown runs, then the whole trade completes at once.
  5. Closing the window, running any command, or logging out cancels the trade and everything goes back to its owner.
  6. Moving around does not cancel it.

Scam checks every player should use

  • Count stacks and compare item names, enchants, and durability before accepting.
  • Make sure the currency amount matches the deal exactly.
  • If the other player says they made a mistake, cancel and reopen the trade instead of guessing.
  • Do not rush because someone is asking you to click fast or move to a different location.

When to use /trade instead of the auction house

  • Use /trade for private, immediate deals between two players.
  • Use the auction house when you want to sell to the whole server, leave an item listed, or compare public prices.
  • Use /trade when you want to avoid the auction house's 1% sale fee, wait time, or public competition.
  • Use the auction house when you are not online to negotiate directly with a buyer.

Good habits before you click accept

  • Agree the deal in chat BEFORE sending the request.
  • Keep your inventory clear so the other player can offer what they promised; they cannot offer more items than you have free slots for, so a full inventory blocks their offer.
  • If you are trading money, confirm the amount before you accept.
  • If something feels off, walk away and find another buyer or seller.
